Course Description:

Did you know that your community is full of fitness opportunities? Join the fun as you reach new levels of fitness through sports, dance, aquatics, and more! A friendly cast of course characters will help guide and enhance your experience. You will learn safety rules for exercise, how to improve your skills, how different activities target different parts of your body, and how to push yourself to reach a goal. You will also try many types of physical activity. Other topics you will explore include diversity in sports, nutrition, peer pressure, and choices. You will keep a log of your activities. You will earn an award through the Presidential Fitness Challenge. You will also complete a few projects as you learn about yourself, your fitness, and the world around you. You will get to choose various activities as you reach goals you may have only dreamed about!

    Participation Requirements:

    Besides engaging students in challenging curriculum, FLVS guides students to reflect on their learning and evaluate their progress through a variety of assessments. Assessments can be in the form of self-checks, activity logs, fitness tests, multiple-choice questions, writing assignments, projects, Discussion-Based Assessments, collaboration activities, and discussions. Instructors evaluate progress and provide interventions through the variety of assessments built into a course, as well as through contact with the student in other venues.
